Artists and content creators are remunerated upon outdated and inefficient, even fraudulent models that were generally developed before the 1920's. Digital delivery changes everything but today many are still under compensated because they think the system is treating them fairly. Consumers are charged to much so they buy less, agents and publishers over charge and leave little margin for authors and many struggle when in fact in today's market they should be thriving. In the USA the average for women dominated purchase decision making is 80%, globally this average out to closer to 70% But women’s economic power is growing fast and they outnumber college graduates. As women now marry less and put off baby rearing later in life, the shift in power from boardrooms to management ranks is also following this trend. The Millennial GEN born between 1980 & 2000, present a new threat as well as opportunity. The threat comes from missing them or failing to connect. This generation is the biggest in American history, they are connected globally, are better educated and technology savvier. The US President recently continued a spate of negativity thrown Amazons way by citing some comments that the United States Postal Service has a loss-making deal with Amazon. Amazon has a sales tax advantage as taxes do not apply to third parties. That is one issue but not Amazons fault as tax avoidance is a well practised business model the President uses and approves of. Trump cites a WSJ comment by a FedEx shareholder which used a Citigroup estimated that the USPS should be charging $1.50 more than it does. This claim has been widely disputed (untrue) and one wonders if the USPS could continue to operate off Amazon started to pull its custom?
